LimeLight IPL Photofacial
Target Sun Spots, Redness & Uneven Skin Tone
Reveal a more even-looking complexion with Cutera LimeLight IPL at SKIN MED SPA. This non-invasive light treatment targets selected brown spots and visible redness, helping improve the appearance of sun-damaged skin.
What Is LimeLight IPL?
LimeLight is an intense pulsed light treatment delivered through the Cutera XEO platform. It uses controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light to target pigment and small visible blood vessels.
The light is absorbed by these targets and converted into heat, helping reduce their visibility over time. Treatment is customized according to your skin tone, concerns and response.
What Can LimeLight Treat?
Following a skin assessment, LimeLight may help improve:
Sun spots and age spots
Selected freckles and benign brown spots
Diffuse facial redness
Diffuse facial redness
Small visible facial blood vessels
Small visible facial blood vessels
Uneven colouring associated with sun damage
Not every brown spot is suitable for IPL. New, changing or suspicious lesions require medical assessment before cosmetic treatment.
What Are the Benefits of LimeLight IPL?
A More Even-Looking Complexion
LimeLight targets selected areas of brown pigmentation and redness, helping reduce a blotchy appearance.
Reduced Appearance of Sun Damage
Treatment can help fade existing sun spots. Daily sun protection remains essential to help prevent new damage.
Less Visible Redness and Small Vessels
LimeLight may reduce selected superficial vessels and facial redness. It can help manage some visible signs associated with rosacea, but does not cure the condition.
Non-Invasive Treatment
LimeLight treats the skin without needles or incisions. Recovery varies, and temporary redness, swelling and darkened spots should be expected.
Who Is LimeLight IPL For?
LimeLight may suit adults who:
Have sun spots or uneven pigmentation
Notice persistent facial redness or small visible vessels
Want to improve sun-related discolouration on the face, chest or hands
Prefer a non-invasive approach and can follow sun-protection instructions
IPL is generally better suited to lighter, untanned skin. Darker skin tones and recently tanned skin carry a greater risk of burns and pigment changes.
Melasma requires particular care because light and heat can worsen it. We’ll assess your skin and recommend an alternative when appropriate.

What to Expect with LimeLight IPL: Before, During & After Treatment
Before Your Session
Avoid tanning, self-tanner and excessive sun exposure as instructed. Tell us about your medications, skincare products, recent procedures and any history of cold sores.
Your provider will explain which products to pause and whether a test spot is needed. Do not stop prescribed medication without guidance from your prescriber.
During Your Session
You’ll wear protective eyewear while the handpiece delivers pulses of light to the treatment area. You may feel a brief warm, pinching or snapping sensation with each pulse.
Appointment length depends on the size of the area being treated.
After Your Session
Temporary redness, warmth and swelling may occur. Treated brown spots can darken and develop light crusting before gradually shedding.
Allow the skin to heal naturally—do not pick, scrub or exfoliate the treated spots. Follow your written aftercare instructions and protect the area from sun exposure.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
A series may be recommended, depending on the type and extent of your pigmentation or redness.
Your provider will recommend the number of sessions and spacing after assessing your skin. Maintenance may be appropriate as new concerns develop over time.
When Will I See Results?
Changes appear gradually as treated pigment sheds and targeted vessels become less visible. Pigmented spots may take several weeks to settle, and some concerns require multiple sessions.
Results vary with your skin; the concern being treated and your sun exposure.
Is LimeLight Right for Everyone?
LimeLight is not suitable for everyone. Pregnancy, active infections, recent tanning, certain medications and some medical conditions may prevent or delay treatment.
Possible side effects include redness, swelling, discomfort, bruising and temporary crusting. Burns, blistering, pigment changes and scarring can also occur. Your provider will review your individual risks and alternatives before treatment.
